TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Rose-Hulman announced the cancellation of the remaining women’s basketball season on Saturday evening. The move was made in part to protect the health and safety of student-athletes due to low roster numbers.

“After consultation with our athletic training staff and medical personnel, we are making the unfortunate decision to cancel the remainder of the 2022-23 women’s basketball season.  Our number one priority is our student-athletes, and this decision is being made to protect their health and safety,” said athletic director Ayanna Tweedy.

The school’s administration will meet to decide on the next steps for the program. The current team has nine players. Prior to the decision the Fightin’ Engineers played Transylvania and lost 74-47. Jamie Baum had 12 points and 3 assists and Rose Burnham and Peyton Miller each finished with 10 points. Rose-Hulman’s current record is 2-3 on the season.
