SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Athletes from Linton-Stockton, North Knox, Saint Mary-of-the -Woods College, South Vermillion and Sullivan High School came together Thursday afternoon to help the cleanup effort in Sullivan after last Friday’s storm.
Sullivan Head Football Coach Mike Caton and his family were directly impacted by the storm as part of their family property suffered storm damage.
“We all play each other all year long but to put all that aside when a disaster like this happens shows what these guys are all about,” Caton says.
Linton-Stockton Head Football Coach Brian Oliver and South Vermillion Head Football Coach Greg Barrett were very proud of the character displayed by each of their teams.
“It’s not Linton versus Sullivan. It’s two communities coming together to help these families that have been through a traumatic tornado,” Oliver says.
“It’s a great community service for our boys to come in here and help these guys clean this place up,” says Barrett, “Anything we can do to give back is what we’re trying to do.”
