LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Hunter Gennicks led Linton in passing and rushing in 2021, but the senior has more than stats and numbers on his mind in 2022.

“Obviously, win a sectional. We haven’t done that since 2016,” says the Linton quarterback.

“That’s going to be a big one, but we are just going to keep grinding.”

Head coach Brian Oliver sleeps easy knowing he has one of the best signal callers in the Wabash Valley leading his team.

“Really exciting to be able to have a 3-year starter be able to come back at QB. Hunter’s been our leader,” says Oliver.

“Our offense is built around him and a couple other guys, but (this) gives us a good foundation coming into the season.”

Gennicks combined for more than 2,600 yards of offense last season and finished with 75 tackles on defense.

“This team is definitely not my own,” says the senior.

“We have so many working parts coming together this year. Our o-line is going to be great, but my sophomore and junior year shaped me to be in the best position for this.”

Linton opens the season by traveling to Parke Heritage on Friday, August 19th.
