TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Senior Connor Fenlong has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Fenlong becomes ISU’s first pitcher to claim the award multiple times in the same season since Geremy Guerrero picked up the honors back on March 22 and April 5, 2021. The Gouverneur, N.Y. native previously received the award on April 24 following his complete-game shutout win over Southern Illinois.

Fenlong recorded his Missouri Valley-leading third complete game shutout of the 2023 season as the redshirt senior quelled the Murray State bats on Saturday afternoon. He retired the first 10 batters he faced and allowed just one runner in scoring position in the game. He was particularly effective late and did not allow a ball out of the infield over the final two innings.
