TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State redshirt freshman quarterback Cade Chambers has been named a Jerry Rice Award finalist as announced by the STATS Perform organization.
Chambers is one of 25 freshmen named to the watch list for the award presented to the national freshman of the year in college football’s Division I subdivision. The Maryville, Tenn. native is also the lone freshman in the Missouri Valley Football Conference to be named to the list and is one of just five quarterbacks recognized across the nation.
Chambers finished the 2022 season with 938 passing yards and an 8:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio on the year. Highlighting his season included a 311-yard passing effort with five total touchdowns against Youngstown State.
