TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Roughly 300 kids attended the Danny Etling Football Camp Monday at Terre Haute South. South, North, West Vigo, Northview, South Vermillion, and Paris got a chance to learn from NFL players such as Etling, Foster Moreau, and Braves great Tony McGee.
Etling is entering his 5th season in the league and wants kids to have a memorable camp experience.
“I hope that first off they just love football so hopefully it was just a great opportunity to enjoy football in this environment and getting to hangout with some professional athletes who still get to do what they love, “says Etling.
“Second thing is hope they just appreciate the opportunities they get (like) getting to play high school football. It’s something that a lot of America does get to do and has really enjoyed so it’s something we share with a lot of our brethren around the country so it’s a really cool thing that we get to experience and I hope they get to take that away as well.”
His good friend and Raiders tight end Foster Moreau enjoys helping Danny host this camp as well.
“Danny has been on a number of teams in the NFL and this is just an invaluable experience for a lot of kids just to come together and get good, healthy competition with a lot of these schools,” Moreau says.
“It brings the town together. Football is a uniting force in this town and we are just happy to be a part of it.”
The camp will look to grow even more next year.
