JASONVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Linton Miners beat the Shakamak Lakers 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. Pitcher Josh Pyne went 6 and 1/3 innings and struck out 10. He also had a two run single in the 5th inning to give the Miners a 3-0 lead. Jaydan Miller homered on the 2nd pitch of the game to give Linton a 1-0 lead.
For the Lakers Peyton Yeryar allowed only 1 run in the first four innings. Shakamak had runners on during several innings but were unable to score a run. Pyne returned from a right wrist injury that caused him to miss much of the season. “It was my first complete game that I’ve thrown this year the most I’ve thrown before this game was 60 pitches so it was a big step up from my injury I’m back and our game plan was you know just keep them off balance going into the last inning there they had seen me three, four times four times I believe up at the plate so that was when I really had to mix up my pitches throw them everything that I had so they weren’t just sitting on my fastball,” he said.
Jaydan added he is impressed with Yeryar’s performance. “I’ve known Peyton Yeryar for a very long time I knew he was going to come out today and he’s a great baseball pitcher I mean it’s hard to find a Yeryar that’s not a great baseball player and I grew up with Peyton and Brady over at Hanna Field over here playing fall ball and I just jumped on that 2nd fastball and squared it up and took it for a ride,” he said.
