TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As he prepares for the later rounds of this week’s NFL Draft, All American linebacker Jonas Griffith took time to reflect on his playing days at Indiana State. Griffith led the Missouri Valley Conference in tackles the past two seasons. He also had four sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss in 2019. Griffith says NFL scouts have told him that he could be selected anywhere from the 5th round on. He is also thankful for the memories he made playing for the Sycamores.
“I would just say you know just the team guys and the coaches all of us coming together you know and building that bond and that friendship and you know just working our tail off everyday for the ultimate goal of winning a conference championship you know and even though that didn’t happen I feel like you know the program is in great hands with Coach Mallory and I feel like you know just the team and my friends and my teammates was the thing I’ll take away from that,” he said. The NFL Draft continues on Friday night with the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Rounds 4 through 7 will take place on Saturday. If Griffith is not selected he could then sign with a team as a free agent.
