TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State soccer team saw their season come to an abrupt end on Wednesday evening, falling to double overtime to Valparaiso 1-0. Lindsey Dusatko scored the game winning goal with about a minute left in double OT. The Sycamores (6-4, 6-2 MVC) end their season with the most conference wins in school history and completed the biggest program turnaround in MVC play after winning just one match during the 2019 campaign.
ISU held a 23-13 shot advantage, five of those which were shots on goal. CeCe Wahlberg had the best chance to score, but her shot on goal went just wide right of the net before halftime. The Sycamores also hit the cross bar and the post during the game, but were unable to score.
In the other semifinal Lindsey Hardiman’s goal in the second overtime lifted No. 1-seed Loyola to a 2-1 victory over fourth-seeded Illinois State. Loyola will face Valparaiso on Sunday in Chicago for the MVC Championship..
