TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Football will enter the 2021 season with a lot of depth at the quarterback position.

Kurtis Wilderman, the most experienced among the six available players, is joined by Gunnar See, Anthony Thompson, Michael Haupert, Cade Chambers, Ethan Cain and Kai Ilela. Head coach Curt Mallory will decide who will be the starter after fall camp, which opens July 30.

“Well, we’ve got great competition,” Mallory said. “Kurtis Wilderman is the guy with the most experience and he’s right in the mix. He’s doing a great job. He’s had a great summer and we’ve got a lot of guys that are competing as well and that’s what you want. That’s what makes you better.”

Indiana State is set to open the season at home on Saturday, August 28 against Eastern Illinois. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium. The team’s other four home games will be against South Dakota State on Sept. 25, Western Illinois on Oct. 9th, Youngstown State on Oct. 23 and Southern Illinois on Nov. 13. All four of these games are slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
