ISU football gears up for scrimmage

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State football team is continuing their spring practice this week, gearing up for a scrimmage on Saturday April 17. The Sycamores opted out of playing a spring season in the Missouri Valley Conference. That would have entailed playing around 18 games in the year, coupled with scheduled games in the fall. Head coach Curt Mallory is pleased with the team’s progress so far. A couple players have caught his eye so far.

“Kelvin Broome you know I look at Kelvin he knows the expectation here at Indiana State came in with Jameer Thurman as a senior when he was a freshman you know he saw Katrell Moss played behind him and then Jonas Griffith so he knows the expectation and he’s playing to it and we’re really pleased with the way he’s going. The other guy that I’ve been really pleased with is Zach Larkin he’s come in here and played behind some really good players you know whether it was Robert Tonyan, Jacquet McClendon, Dom Dafney and he’s playing up to the expectation so really pleased with those two young men,” he said.

Here is the ISU fall football schedule which includes five home games and 11 games overall:

  • 08/28 – Eastern Illinois
  • 09/04 – OFF
  • 09/11 – at Northwestern
