TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Sycamores won their 19th game on Saturday with a double header sweep of Valparaiso. The Sycamores won game one 11-2 and took the second game 6-2. Connor Cline took a no hitter into the 7th inning for Indiana State in the first game, but is was broken up by Valparaiso to end the no hit bid. Cline went 6 and a third innings and struck out four with five walks in the win. Offensively Aaron Beck went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’S. Miguel Rivera was 1 for 1 with 3 RBI’s and 3 walks.
Seth Gergely hit a solo home run in the 5th inning to make it 5-0. Diego Gines was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s. Lead off hitter Josue Urdaneta went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Jordan Schaeffer finished 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Joey Hurth came on in relief of Cline in the 7th inning and struck out two batters to clinch the win. ISU improves to 18-8 and will complete the second game of the doubleheader at Bob Warn Field.
