TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Sycamores dropped a tough game on Tuesday evening, falling to Indiana 6-5 at Bob Warn Field. The Sycamores led 5-1 going to the top of the 9th inning but Carter Mathison hit a game tying three run homer and Tyler Doanes added a solo blast to give the Hoosiers a 6-5 lead.

Sean Ross homered for ISU and Brennyn Cutts struck out 10 batters in six innings for the Sycamores. The game also featured a return to the area for Brayden Tucker (Northview) along with Linton’s Kip Fougerousse and Josh Pyne. Here’s what they felt about returning to the area.

“A lot of goose bumps I get to see my family that I don’t get to see quite often they get to see me play baseball I’m just happy coming back a lot of child hood memories here a lot of high school memories here seeing my grandparents and their house driving by them on the way to the field,” Tucker said.

Added Kip Fougerousse “It’s pretty cool a lot of familiar faces in the stands and the other dugout it’s really cool I’ve come to Terre Haute ever since I was little it’s a place that you know I’m very familiar with and just to come here and win a ball game it was pretty cool,” he said.

Freshman Josh Pyne says it was nice to return to a place he’s very familiar with. “It really is awesome seeing people I know in the stands and having people message me and you know coming back to watch us play so it really is awesome,” he said. ISU drops to 19-9 with the loss while Indiana improves to 13-18.
