TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana State senior pitcher Geremy Guerrero leads the MVC in seven different pitching categories. He’s a big reason why the Sycamores are ranked nationally and getting a ton of respect.
Geremy Guerrero says, “It’s been a lot of things. Obviously working with my pitching coach and all of the coaches in general. Focusing on a lot of defense, work, and pitch ability. Trusting my defense out there as much as I can. I know a ball in play is most likely going to get an out. If it’s not a hit obviously and trusting my offense. Offense has been really key this year especially for me because it seems like a lot of games I’ve started, we’ve gone up quick early and that can allow me and other pitchers to settle in.”
Mitch Hannahs says, “He’s a guy that all young people should look to. For those out there that maybe don’t throw hard enough or fast enough or do something, Geremy’s a guy that came in throwing 85-87 and in this world a guy’s throwing 100, he’s been 88 most of this season throwing four different pitches. You don’t have to have the greatest arm in the world. At the end of the day, you have to be able to pitch and that’s what he does extremely well. He locates extremely well. Both sides of the plate. First and foremost, his poise is off the charts. He is hard to rattle. He was brought up right. His parents did a great job.”
The Sycamores travel to Dallas Baptist this weekend for the four-game set starting Friday night.
