TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Jonas Griffith and Ryan Boyle are two players to keep an eye on this season for Indiana State football. Griffith leads the defense from the middle linebacker spot. Last season he had 132 total tackles including 81 solo.
Offensively Boyle leads a unit that has nine returning starters, including all five offensive linemen. He threw for 1,627 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 610 yards and six scores. They both have lofty expectations for this year’s team.
“We didn’t have those same expectations you know finishing that 0-11 season we didn’t but you know we have some expectations this year but we want a conference championship and we won’t be satisfied without it,” Griffith said.
Boyle added: “We have the necessary confidence of what we did last year you know we need to have that and we’re going to bring that into here and that’s going to obviously create a target on our back but you know we’re welcoming it and it’s going to be fun because the coaches and the practices the installs everything they’ll have in place for us is going to help us prepare.” The season opener is Saturday August 31st at Kansas.
