TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute native and current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Danny Etling hosted a football camp Monday at Terre Haute South for more than 200 local football players.

Etling, a graduate of South, is now in his fourth year in the NFL. He brought some friends along for his first camp.

“It’s the first one I’ve hosted,” Etling said. “It’s been something growing up, whether it was Coach Cameron coming back and Tony McGee working with us when I was at South or Steve Weatherford coming back, always being a part of that seeing guys from around here who have made it really gave me a belief that someone who was on this field 10 years ago is where I want to be.”

Players from South, Terre Haute North, West Vigo, Northview and South Vermillion high schools attended the camp.

“I was pretty excited about it and really happy to do it,” Etling said. “I remember when I was in their shoes I was literally on this field that they’re all sitting on and I’m where I think a lot of them would want to be and I’m so thankful for it.“
