CASEY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – For the first time in fifteen years, the Casey-Westfield Warriors are heading to the IHSA Softball State Finals this weekend in Peoria. Casey will play Forreston Friday at 12:30pm CT. The winner advances to the 1A State Championship Game Saturday.

“It’s amazing to be a part of this experience and I’m so glad that we get to experience it together. It’s just been so long since we’ve been there and I’m so excited that I can be a part of this history in the making, ” says Maya Redman.

Sophomore Harley Jean says, “We do have some fun, but most of all we try to stay serious and just play our game.”

Casey has not been to the state finals since 2007. They have not won a state championship in softball since 2000.

“It would be very big for our team and our school. It’s just huge and important for us to win this,” says sophomore Kamryn Smith.

The Warriors are 36-1 on the season and will look to finish their mission this weekend.

“It’s been fifteen years since they got to this point and a little longer since they won it all. Our girls know what the tradition and the history of this program is so to get back to this point is amazing for this community and for these girls,” says head coach Dalton McFarland.

“We know we are not satisfied and we are not done. We’ve had the goal all year of going all the way and winning it all and that’s what we are trying to do.”
