One out of five individuals suffer with mental health issues.
A training program took place today at the Vigo County CASA office.
It’s to train those who work with children to identify and address those issues.
The Hamilton Center held a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Program with teachers, CASA and CODA volunteers and staff from Gibault.
The training session helps members of the public to understand and respond to at–risk youth.
“What the certificate says is that you have taken the time to understand the top six most prevalent mental health disorders that you’re going to be seeing in america, which are consistent in the Wabash Valley.”
The 8 hour training is divided into two day sessions.
It teaches participants a 5-step action plan to assess and direct those youth members.
