(WTWO/WAWV) – Polls opened at 6 a.m. in Indiana and Illinois. Many county clerks said the turnout has been huge.
In Vigo County, 2,200 votes had been cast as of 9 a.m. As of 4:15 p.m., the county had 7,351 Election Day voters. The county received a total of 34,499 early votes. In 2016, there was a total of 40, 699 votes.
Knox County received a total of 8,094 early votes, including travel board, mail in, and in person voters. While the county clerk said they have had a steady flow of voters this morning, they will not have an exact number of election day voters until this evening.
Sullivan county received a total of 3,432 early votes, including their travel board votes. The county clerk says according to reports, 1,721 voters had cast ballots as of 9 a.m. As of 4:30 p.m., the county had 4,201 voters on Tuesday.
In Parke County, 979 people have voted so far this morning. They have also received more than 3,380 early votes.
While there is no word on election day voters, Martin County received 2,142 mail-in and early voter votes.
Vermillion’s county clerk said the county received 2,694 early votes plus 699 mail in ballots that includes traveling board and military. The number of people voting at the polls on Tuesday has not been announced. As of 2:30 p.m., 3,062 people votes on Tuesday.
In Illinois, Crawford County received 4,000 total early votes. According to the county clerk’s office, things have been moving smoothly.
Clark County had 3,888 total early votes. The clerk’s office said their precincts were experiencing lines of people by early morning.
Edgar County clerk’s office said the county has been extremely busy this morning since opening their doors. The county received 3,651 total early votes.
Jasper County received a total of 2,312 early votes including the mail in ballots they received.
