TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A mayoral candidate forum was held at Vigo County Public Library by the League of Women Voters.
Pat Goodwin and Brandon Sakbun, who are running as Democrats, participated in the event. Republican Mayor Duke Bennett also attended as a member of the audience.
Residents got the opportunity to ask the candidates questions, and express their concerns about different topics. President of League of Women Voters Carolyn Callecod, said it is important for citizens to get to know who they’re voting for.
“The voters need to understand that our local government has more impact on our day-to-day life. And sometimes voters want to focus on the national and the bug races, but these races are just as important if not more so because of the impact of their daily lives,” Callecod said.
We will be following this race, and others, throughout election season. In the coming weeks, we will also present candidate profiles.
Early voting begins April 4, and primary election day is on May 2.
