KANSAS, Ill. — In the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, Illinois was one of three states to hold its primary election Tuesday. Some polling locations took extra precautions to keep people safe.
Cynthia Bruce, an election official in Kansas, Ill., said they used disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer to help stop the spread of germs. Even with the extra measures, she said some voters had expressed their concerns.
“I think from what I’ve overheard it is, I think people are concerned,” Bruce said. “It’s a little bit both ways, but I think more people are more concerned about it. Especially the older people who have compromised immune systems.”
