VIGO CO, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In a tight race for Commissioner of District one in Vigo County, Mark Clinkenbeard won with 53% of the votes.
He is a lifelong resident of Vigo County, and a small business owner, something he feels will help him in office.
“I want Vigo County to be a place where our kids and grandkids can be a part of. So many times, we see kids graduate, and they don’t come back. We need to make it an attractive place for them; that means good jobs and good quality of life projects,” he said.
Clinkenbeard’s long-term goals include addressing the county’s housing situation and improving the local workforce.
He will join fellow Republican Commissioners Chris Switzer and Mike Morris.
“I want to meet with my fellow Commissioners and the Council, get to know them a little bit. Make sure we’re all going to communicate well; I know there are a lot of good people on both. We want to do some positive things for the county,” he said.
