Woman Changed by Shoe Box Gift

Efforts that local churches make all year round for the Christmas season paid off tonight at Christway Church in Terre Haute.

The service met Alina Aisina, a recipient of an Operation Christmas Child shoebox in her youth. These are shoe boxes that churches and organizations fill during the year to send out to underprivileged children around the globe during the holiday.

Alina’s made it her mission to become a spokesperson for the shoebox that changed her life around. She lived in Central Asia when she received her gift … Simply a shoebox filled with necessities.

“Operation Christmas Child affected me personally because it was at a time when I was very alone, I felt abandoned and hopeless, I was able to receive a tangible representation of God’s love and of hope knowing that he cares about me and that he has never abandoned me and that changed me internally and externally,” Alina said.

Boxes are typically filled wth school supplies, hygiene items, toys and something a little special. For Alina, it was pink princess shoes.
