Indiana State Police are gearing up for the storm and giving out tips to drivers to help keep them safe while on the roads.
Trooper Matt Ames asks anyone who is not required to go out to stay indoors until the storm is over.
Ames does give advice to those who will be on the roads Sunday and Monday… “Add kitty litter to your vehicles so that way in case you do get on some snow or ice, by taking the kitty litter and putting it underneath your wheels will allow you to get extra traction.”
He said making sure you are prepared is one of the easiest steps you can take this season.
He also adds a full tank of gas, gloves, extra clothes and knowing where your hazard lights button is are things you need before heading on the road.
“Call 1 800-261-7623 for any roadway condition questions,” said Ames. “For all your emergencies call 911 and someone will be sent to assist you and help you get home safe to your loved ones.”
