Over 1,000 in West Terre Haute are currently without power, according to Duke Energy.

Another 1,800 WIN Energy REMC members are also without power throughout the Wabash Valley.

According to Duke Energy district manager Rick Burger, high winds are to blame for the outages.

Several trees and limbs have fallen on circuits, which in some cases have caused fires.

All traffic lights are currently out in the area.

No estimate is currently available as to when power will be restored for any of the areas. It is anticipated that restoration times will be extended due to the extent of damage of the widespread outages, according to WIN Energy representatives.

Burger warned residents to assume every downed line is energized. Stay away from these lines and report them immediately.
