TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)  — Students at West Vigo High School on Wednesday wrapped up their annual Sock-tober fundraiser.

Every year students host a sock drive to collect socks for foster children. This year, they collected 500 pairs of socks to donate.

“These socks that are gathered here today will be available to all foster children throughout the Wabash Valley,” Kristi Cundiff said.

They also hosted a bake sale that raised more than $400 dollars to purchase more socks for foster children.

“I joined FCCLA freshmen year because I like helping people and this is just one of those things,” Erin Murphy said. “There might even be foster kids here and we don’t know it because who wants to let it out that they don’t have a family or what we think as a day to day family, so it just really makes my heart grow.”
