West Terre Haute church hands out free lunches to those in need

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — West Side Christian Church in West Terre Haute is handing out hot lunches to those in need amid coronavirus outbreak..

Volunteer Amy Powers says the church, Tecumseh Tavern and volunteers are raising money to buy the lunches and the West Terre Haute Police Department is dropping off grab bags to the most needy.

Volunteers are preparing meals from 11:30-12:30 in the afternoon. Around 58 meals were prepared today.

A post on the church’s Facebook page says they plan to hand out lunches all week. Powers says she hopes the effort can continue as long as there is a need.
