Three years ago a produce outfit in Knox County and its owner violated overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Now the 14 workers involved will see several thousand dollars in a settlement.
Indian Hills Produce and owner John Toth were found to be in violation since they paid those employees on a piece-rate basis and did not take into account the hours they worked.
Under an agreement those workers will be paid a total of $58,226 in back wages and liquidated damages.
Indian Hills Produce has also paid $15,400 in civil money penalties for wilful violations of the FLSA.
