TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wally King Angel Network will serve Thanksgiving dinner to the Sullivan County community for the 23rd year this Thanksgiving.
“People come here and dine as well as we deliver. Basically all of Sullivan County. We have gone to Shelbern, Carlisle, Graysville and Dugger,” stated Wally King Angel Network founder Kristi Irwin.
Irwin has been working with Joe’s Italian Food’s for the last 15 years to help better serve those in Sullivan County and the surrounding area. This year presents new challenges dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 has continued to spike, but Irwin and her team plan to take the necessary precautions to stay safe.
“We’re definitely going to have to limit our number of volunteers. maybe have them in shifts of two hours cause there’s several people who love to help. It’s their tradition. Serving Wally King dinner,” explained Joe’s Italian Food’s owner, Nora Leone.
Both the Wally King Angel Network and Joe’s Italian Food’s are focused on doing what it takes to serve Sullivan County.
“If things continue to spike, of course we will do what the Sullivan County health department tells us to do,” stated Irwin. “We’re going to go full steam ahead unless they pull the reins and tell us no. Otherwise, we’re just going to keep moving.”
The Thanksgiving dinner is based solely on donations and the Wally King Angel Network needs the public’s help to make sure they can help to serve those in need.
For those who would like to make a donation to go towards the Thanksgiving dinner, there is a drop box located at Joe’s Italian Foods. People can also send checks to P.O. Box 222 Sullivan, Ind., 47882, with checks payable to the Wally King Angel Network.
