TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley Recovery Center invited the community to put on their best dress to celebrate inspirational journeys to recovery.
The organization held their inaugural Recovery is Beautiful gala to raise money.
The event included a dinner and fashion show.
Organizers said the event serves as an opportunity to break the stigma behind drug recovery.
“Once an addict always an addict the worst one that we deal with every day. So we’re trying to break that down we’re trying to shown that people that if you fill them with hope they can livelong happy and very productive lives,” said Michael Rentfro, a peer recovery coach.
There was also an awards ceremony recognizing those going above and beyond in helping the Terre Haute community.
