TERRE HAUTE, Ind., (WTWO/WAWV)– The Wabash Valley Coin Club hosted their semi-annual Coin Fair at the Vigo Co. Fairgrounds.

Collectors, dealers, and traders from across the Wabash Valley were in attendance.

In addition to trading coins and currency, participants were also able to trade other valuables such as comic books and baseball cards.

Marvin Mericle, treasurer for the Wabash Valley Coin Club, said coin collecting is a unique way to keep in touch with history.

“For me it’s a hobby and it’s a great hobby. It’s a world of history. I collect the paper money. I look at the artwork that’s done on the paper money and the older stuff but coins and the currency, the artwork is just fantastic for what we’ve created in this country,” said Mericle.

This year’s fair marked the 60th anniversary of the group’s founding.

The club plans to host another currency fair in August.
