One local program gave back to its volunteers on Monday afternoon, by offering them a tasty treat as part of a Volunteer Appreciation Day.
Vigo County CASA set up outside the county government building to make free floats for volunteers and community supporters.
With the forecast showing sunshine and warm temperatures, it was the perfect day to kick back and enjoy a float.
Executive Director Glenna Cheesman says that volunteers are the lifeblood of the program, And that today was all about showing them how much they are valued both by program leaders and children in need.
“For all the things that they do, all the court reports, all the traveling that they do, they do this 100% free, so any time that we can do something just to say thank you is the best way” said Glenna Cheesman, Executive Director of Vigo County CASA.
Vigo County CASA serves more than 700 children in the area, and Cheesman says the numbers are unfortunately growing. This has the need of volunteers even more vital.
