Lots of local folks rolled up their sleeves on Friday to give the Gift of Life.
The YMCA of Vincennes hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross.
It was the first time the Red Cross has held a blood drive at the YMCA in Vincennes, but officials say it was a great day.
They saw a lot of donors.
Officials believe more people are becoming aware of the need, especially this time of year.
“Every two seconds, someone needs blood and the only way to get it is through donors like the folks who are coming here to the Y. The impact that it is has on patients’ lives and the families, and friends, associated with those patients is immeasurable,” says Patrick Conner, a Donor Recruitment Representative with the American Red Cross.
The organization also wants donors to know about RapidPass.
If you go to the Rapid Pass website, you can do pre-donation reading and answer health history questions before donating blood, which will save you some time.
