VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Summer is almost here for students and staff, but once the school season starts back up come fall one Wabash Valley school will return to a brand new building.

Tonight the Vincennes Community School Board met to talk about updates to the elementary school’s renovation.
Vigo Elementary is close to re-opening and the school plans to hold an open-house July 7.
The construction is part of a master plan to update all of the district’s elementary schools by the year 2020.

The newest of the elementary schools, Riley, was the first to undergo the makeover followed by Tecumseh-Harrison and Vigo.
Franklin Elementary will be the final school.

Greg Parsley form the Vigo Community Schools said, “we are a little ahead of where we were a year ago that’s because we’ve learned things from Tecumseh-Harrison that we’ve been able to apply on Vigo and it’s the same thing we will do to Franklin because there’s still some things we want to tweak.”
