VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tuesday morning Vigo County Commissioners took a vote to include Riley Township in an inter-local agreement regarding code enforcement.
According to Commissioner President Brad Anderson, the township of Riley had asked the commissioners for help with code and building inspections after managing within the township for a few years.
Starting immediately the county will be responsible for code enforcement and building inspections.
“We have a problem with grass getting too tall or vacant lots being over grown. We can go over down there and we can fine them or we can take them to court if they have to do that,” explained Anderson. “So the town doesn’t have that capability of doing that. So that can be done through the county.”
