VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County School Corporation welcomed students back to class on Tuesday.
Jennifer Nickel, principal at Hoosier Prairie Elementary, says the first day back was successful. She says the students listened to directions well and wore their masks.
She says it’s just great to see the students again.
“It’s been five months without any children around and it has been amazing to see their smiles behind those masks. I told them I know you’re smiling. Your eyes are bright if you are, so many of them are smiling and are very happy,” says Nickel.
She wants parents to know that even if their child is doing hybrid or remote learning, they can still get school breakfast and lunch. Families should contact the school’s kitchen manager if they have a need for the meals.
