Vigo County schools on lockout during short police chase, suspect apprehended by K-9

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Some Vigo County Schools were on a brief lockout during a police situation Tuesday morning.

Around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, Terre Haute police attempted to stop a SUV at 17th and Sycamore for failure to signal a turn. The driver led police on a short vehicle chase that ended at 22nd and Cleveland.

The suspect attempted to run, but was apprehended by a police K-9. He was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained during the K-9 apprehension.

The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.

While police were in pursuit of the suspect, Meadows, Deming and Franklin schools were on a lockout that ended shortly after 8:30 a.m.
