Vigo County prosecutor to distribute $25,000 in grants for recovery programs

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — From the Prosecutor’s Office: Today, Monday, Dec. 2, the Vigo County Council approved the request of Prosecutor Terry Modesitt to allocate $25,000 for Community Grants to be distributed to Addiction Recovery programs in Vigo County.

“My office has income streams where the spending is monitored by the County.  So each dollar must be approved by the County Council,” Modesitt said.

“There is a tremendous need to grow the recovery programs in Vigo County and these non-tax dollars will go to support that.”

Prosecutor Modesitt believes that a two pronged approach is necessary if we are going to impact the community long term.

“We will continue to prosecute drug dealers, especially repeat offenders, to the extent the law allows.  At the same time, we want to support those programs that reduce demand for drugs and reunites families.  There are some exciting things happening in our recovery and faith based communities and we want to encourage more.”
