Vigo County Mutual Aid group formed in response to COVID-19

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local woman is using social media to help provide resources to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ISU graduate student Tina Simons has created a Vigo County Mutual Aid group in response to COVID-19.

Simons says she saw other communities using similar ideas and believed it would benefit the Wabash Valley.

The goal of the group is to have a central place where the community can both ask for and offer their help.

Simons also says she started the group because she believes every person has a right to have their basic needs met.

“Our landscape is changing, our needs are changing and it’s particularly true for our residents who were already in need before this crisis. So, our goal is to make sure every single resident in the Wabash Valley has their basic needs met right now,” Simons said.

The group is also in need of more volunteers.
