TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) Today Garmong Construction announced all bids for the 13 different projects to construct the Vigo County jail.
There were a variety of construction companies that placed their builds to work on the new county jail.
Commissioners decided on a $63.5 million cost for jail construction.
Projects that were bid on ranged from kitchen equipment to asphalt paving, masonry and fire protection.
The amounts for projects ranged from over $500,000 over $7 million.
The highest bid was for detention equipment at over $16,800,000.
The only bidder on that project was Pauly Jail Building Company Incorporated.
County attorney Michael Wright says that now commissioners have to go through the bids and account for all additional projects within the 13 categories. He says they should award bids within the next two to three weeks.
Wright says by law the waward will go to the lowest and most responsive bid. That means the construction company that’s bid truly reflects the design established in the blueprints.
