TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Vigo County health officials are urging the public to stay home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Vigo County and across Indiana.
According to the Vigo County Health Department, their biggest concern is upcoming holiday gatherings.
Roni Elder, Vigo County Health Educator, said it’s best to celebrate with those in your household to avoid getting sick.
“Having the numbers that we’ve been having. We can’t advise that it’s a good idea for people to travel and spend time with people that they haven’t already been in close contact with. So really going outside of your household is a risk right now. And that’s a tragic thing for the holiday season.”
Health officials said if you do choose to celebrate with extended family, you should wear a mask and social distance.
