Vigo Co. Public Library helps visitors preserve their history

TERRE HAUTE, Ind., (WTWO/WAWV)– Vigo Co. Public Library is hosting their Recording Family Stories event through March.

Those that visit the library are able to trace their ancestry in Vigo Co. using the library’s geneology records and record their own personal accounts about their lives or significant moments in history that they may have lived through.

Garrett Brown, Communications Manager for Vigo Co. Public Library, said the program allows participants to preserve their history in a way that is in tune with today’s technology.

“Sometimes people find listening to history more appealing than reading it out of a book. It’s especially cool for people to tell their own individual stories,” said Brown.

Those that are interested in participating in the program can visit the Vigo Co. Public Library and schedule an appointment with a staff member from the library’s Special Collections department.
