ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana State Police have identified a person who died following a disturbance at an apartment complex.
Police said authorities responded to a call Thursday afternoon of 57-year-old Douglas L. McIntosh of Newport, Indiana causing a disturbance at the Rose Valley Apartment Complex in Rosedale.
A town marshal responded to the scene and determined the man was mentally unstable. He requested additional assistance.
When officers attempted to detain the man, he went into physical distress. According to authorities, first aid was immediately administered and EMS was contacted.
McIntosh was pronounced dead at the scene by the Parke County Coroner’s Office.
According to state police, the cause of manner of death has not been determined.
They said toxicology results and the review of the final autopsy are pending.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Indiana State Police detectives Don Curtis, Mike Featherling, and Jason Schoffstall, with the assistance of Crime Scene Investigator Jim Cody of the Putnamville State Police Post. Parke County Coroner’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
Once the investigation is complete, it will be submitted to the Parke County Prosecutor’s office for review and action.
