A victim has been identified as Jacob Russell Stewart, 27 of Olney, after a crash that left two dead Thursday in Flora.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that just before 6 A.M. on Thursday, Walter Pollock, 65, of Sikeston, MO, was traveling in a 2014 blue freightliner semi trailer eastbound on RT. 50 near the intersection of Stanford St. in Flora.

Eric Bosel, 29, of Noble Illinois was traveling westbound in a 2001 green Chrysler minivan at the same location while Stewart was traveling westbound in a 1998 Nissan Utility behind Bosel. Pollock then swerved into the westbound lane of traffic striking Bosel. Pollock then veered off and struck Stewart.

Bosel and Stewart soon became engulfed in flames killing both of them, while Pollock was transported to Clay County Hospital.

Pollock was charged with improver lane usage, driving under the influence of drugs, and possession of paraphernalia. The crash remains under investigation at this time by Illinois State Police, and the Clay County Coroner’s Office.
