Veterans host motorcycle ride to raise suicide awareness

News

VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)- The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association in West Terre Haute hosted a motorcycle ride Saturday to spread awareness about suicide amongst veterans.

They traveled 100 miles from West Terre Haute to Rollies Pizza in Terre Haute.

Their main goal is to let veterans know they are not alone and also making sure they don’t become one of the 22 veterans who commit suicide daily.

Michael Petty, who is a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association said  they are a family and they want to make sure that family stays intact.

“Suicide is one of those things that happens. Sometimes you can see it… Sometimes you can’t. We’re just trying to raise awareness and get the word out. If you need help, there’s always someone to talk to.”

A part of the proceeds from Saturdays ride were donated to a local military family.
