Vermillion County motorcycle accident victim update

News

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – We have a sad update about a Vermillion County motorcycle accident.

Hope appears to be fading for the man on the motorcycle.
And a family that has been through so much is now dealing with more sadness.
25-year-old Danny Joe Smith JR., and his wife Rachael Smith were traveling southbound on 63 when a deer ran out in front of them.
Witnesses say they lost control and it flipped. Rachel was transported to union hospital, but Joe Smith was flown to Methodist Hospital Indianapolis.
Smith is the brother-in-law of Garrett Sands.
He was the young Terre Haute boy who was shot to death in 2018.
Tonight there was a posting on the Garrett Sands Kindness Project Facebook page. It said in part, “there’s no brain function and per Joe’s generous and loving wishes, he will be an organ donor,” she went on to add. He (Joe) Was the best brother-in-law Garrett could ask for.
A Go-Fund Me page has been set up for Joe and Rachel Smith.
