Vermillion Co. Sheriff’s Office responds to alleged threats of violence at Clinton area restaurant

One man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to “shoot up” a Clinton restaurant.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., employees at the Hardees near Clinton received a phone call that a male customer had threatened to “shoot up” the restaurant.

Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and approached the subject, identified as Robert A. Brown, age 51 from Indianapolis, Ind.

Brown was detained without incident, and it was discovered that he had a felony warrant out of Hancock County Indiana. He did not have any weapons.

Brown was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Vermillion County Jail. Due to overcrowding of the Jail, Brown was transported to the Hancock County Jail immediately.

Deputies were unable to find any evidence to establish that Brown had actually made a threat to the restaurant, he did not have any weapons in his possession and complied during the incident.

No local charges were filed at this time but a report will be sent to the Prosecutors Office.
