TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Community members will soon have several opportunities to discuss the Vigo County School Corporation referendum on November’s ballot with school leaders.
VCSC is hosting several community meetings throughout September and October with the goal of explaining the need for raised property taxes as well as looking to the future in terms of building use.
Superintendent Robert Haworth says these meetings should ideally be split into three 30 minute periods of discussion.
“We’ve had a great start to our school year, we’ve gotten through Labor Day, and now it’s the process of getting in our buildings, informing our parents, informing our students, informing the community at large on what the referendum means, what $4 million of cuts look like, and then where are we going with our building project in the future,” said Haworth
The first meeting is September 10 at Lost Creek Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. and there will be 17 additional meetings at the remaining elementary schools in the district. Each meeting is set to go from 6:30-8 p.m.
