The Vigo County Public Library is recognized for being a Breastfeeding Friendly Business.
The Maple Center presented that award to the library on Thursday.
They took nominations from the community during August, which was breastfeeding awareness month.
The library received the most nominations for offering both a private space and comfortable public space for nursing mothers.
The library says it’s honored to receive the award.
“Our community has a great population of young mothers, so we want to make sure we are creating an environment that is conducive to their needs. By offering our breastfeeding room, we allow them to have that space and feel comfortable if they choose not to nurse in the general public,” says Elizabeth Scamihorn, Public Relations Manager at the library.
The award is funded by the Breastfeeding Coalition, which is part of the Maple Center.
