Bicknell, IN - Officials with a local pool are working to re-open after health violations forced the pool to close.
It's been several weeks since the Knox County Health Department shut down Swimland in Bicknell.
An issue with the chlorinator caused a water quality violation. In addition, the pool failed to submit water samples to the State and to the Board of Health.
For the last 55 years, Swimland has operated with local funds and donations. However, those funds may not be enough to keep the facility updated.
Despite being closed, the pool still has community support. "This community has been very generous with us and they help us tremendously. We appreciate anything and everything they've done for us," said Cheryl Noonan, Swimland Manager.
The pool board is hosting a slow pitch softball tournament this weekend to raise money for the facility.
